Tai sabaki (Body movement)
| Ai hanmi | Same stance as partner – kosa dori ai hanmi means an attack where the wrist is grasped right/right or left/left as for a handshake |
| Gyaku hanmi | Opposite stance to partner (mirror image) – katate dori gyaku hanmi means an attack where the wrist is grasped right/left |
| Ude furi undo | Arm swinging using ayumi ashi tenkan movement |
| Kiri age kiri sage | Cutting up and down with both arms |
| Shikko | Knee walking |
Tachi waza (Standing techniques)
| Katate dori tai no henka | Body shifting exercise with partner |
| Shomen uchi Ikkyo | Arm pin against frontal strike to the head |
| Katate dori nikyo | Wrist inwards pin from an opposite wrist grab |
| Shomen uchi irimi nage | Entering throw against frontal strike to the head |
| Katate dori kote gaeshi | Wrist outward throw from opposite wrist grab |
| Katate dori sumi otoshi | Corner drop (three ways) from an opposite wrist grasp |
Suwari waza (Kneeling technique)
| Ryote dori kokyu ho | Breath power exercise from a grasp of both wrists |
Ukemi Falling techniques
| Mae ukemi | Forwards breakfall |
All techniques should be performed using both omote and ura forms
Omote- moving to the attacker’s front (positive side)
Ura- moving to the attacker’s rear (negative side)
All techniques from prior ranks also to be performed with greater proficiency
